Celebrating 10 years supporting UK care professionals 2016 - 2026

NACAS is proud to be partnered with Surewise. As the exclusive provider of Carer Insurance for Care Professional Organisation members, Surewise delivers cover designed specifically for the needs of care professionals.
Working as a self-employed carer comes with all the usual perks of running your own business, choosing your hours, picking your clients, and having control over the financial side of your work. But without the safety net of an employer, risks like accidental injury or allegations of negligence land squarely on your shoulders.
Self-employed carer insurance is public liability cover designed specifically for carers and personal assistants who are self-employed. It gives you peace of mind that you're covered against claims that may arise in your role as a carer, allowing you to focus on delivering the best care possible for your clients.
Key cover elements:
Public liability up to £5 million, including cover for up to 90 days working overseas
Loss or damage to property, including personal or client belongings (up to £250) and replacement keys and locks (up to £100)
Personal accident cover up to £12,500, plus a hospital cash benefit
Legal expenses up to £100,000, with Carers Legal Protection and a 24/7 legal advice helpline
No excess, no hidden fees
You'll need relevant training or qualifications to be covered for certain tasks, such as administering medication, and may be required to provide evidence of this if you make a claim.
Please note: As a CPO solo membership package member, this cover is included free as part of your package. If you're not on a solo package, you can take it out as a standalone policy directly through Surewise.

Having self-employed carers insurance is not a legal requirement. However, it's strongly recommended and is something most carers are expected to have. It's there to protect you against any claims that may arise against you, and without it, you could be left with high legal costs.
